Welcome to Kholle House built in 1860 and located in the heart of Stone Town – a magnificent showcase for Princess Kholle’s most treasured artifacts and collectables, and a place to entertain friends and visiting dignitaries.
The house has been lovingly renovated over a three year period into a boutique hotel. Each of the eleven rooms and apartments are uniquely designed using a combination of Swahili and French-Creole influences.
Kholle House is not only rich with history but also colour. Turmeric walls, stained window details and polished, nutmeg-coloured floors, with inlaid marble accents from the original build, are reminiscent of local spices and reflect the vibrant Zanzibari culture. Little jewel in Stone Town. The hotel, mix of Swahili and Creole style, is amazing. Upon arrival at two in the morning, we couldn’t help but stay a little on the rooftop enjoying the night and the view. Huge rooms, tastily furnished, spotless, comfy bed and air-conditioning. There’s a lovely garden and a small swimming pool. The staff was really friendly and helpful
